PhD-Students and Post-Doc in Applied and Computational Mathematics
Research projects are available in the fields of mathematical modeling, numerical methods as well as inverse problems for non-linear partial differential equations with applications in fluid and plasma dynamics. The projects typically incorporate multi-disciplinary aspects ranging from analysis and engineering to implementation.
Ideal PhD candidates have completed a master or equivalent degree in Applied Mathematics or Computational Engineering with a very good academic record. Post-Docs should have an excellent PhD thesis in a related field. Experience in numerical methods, physical models, and/or programming are expected. Most important would be the interest in conducting research in transdisciplinary projects at the interface of mathematics and engineering.
Both PhD-Students or Post-Docs will be hired as research assistants. After successful completion of a PhD-thesis a doctoral degree in mathematics at RWTH Aachen can be awarded.
Responsibilities would include teaching tutorials in Mathematics and Computational Engineering at RWTH Aachen. English can be the teaching language in many courses, yet knowledge of German is appreciated.
Please send your CV, copies of your degree certificates, and a research statement with summary of your Master thesis electronically to office@acom.rwth-aachen.de.
If you have questions please contact Prof. Manuel Torrilhon.
